Airbase

TSPATKubinka airbase is situated to the west of Moscow - 60km far. It is well-known not only in Russia, but abroad as well. Already a long time ago Kubinka has earned the reputation of an air garrison for new aircraft prototypes demonstration to the country leaders and foreign delegations. Kubinka airbase pilots were the first to perform single and formation flights on jet fighters. Kubinka mapAlready on the 1st of May 1946, Kubinka aces performed a parad formation flight over the Moscow for the first time. Today Kubinka is known as the number 1 school of aerobatic art, homebase for world-famous aerobatic teams “Russian Knights” and “Strizhi”. In addition, Kubinka is one of the largest AirForces airbases in Moscow region with about 65-years own history.

Since 1935 it was a homebase for the 82nd squadron, and from 1938 - 11th and 24th wings. Their pilots were doing army tests of new Soviet fighters Yak-1, LaGG-3; and during the WWII were defending the Moscow sky. After the war Kubinka became a homebase for the 324th Svirsk fighter air division. In November 1950 it was moved to Korea, replaced in KozhedubKubinka by the 9th fighter air division. Since 1952 Kubinka is the home for the 234th IAP (istrebitelniy aviatzionniy polk) fighter wing - antecessor of the 237th Proskurov Guards aircraft demonstration center rewarded with the Red Banner, Kutuzov and Alexandr Nevsky Orders named after Air Force Masrshal Ivan Kozhedub.
